Last Thursday, Jasmine Wilson (photographer for The Ethical Man) and I attended a Vegan Glamour Designers of the Future soiree hosted by Elizabeth Olsen, founder of leading vegan shoe design label olsenHaus. The rooftop of The Atelier in Manhattan provided a classy setting for honoring students from the Pratt Institute of Design, who had taken up OlsenHaus’s challenge to create stylish, original vegan shoe designs.
It was a great evening, to say the least. Complimentary vegan delicacies, a full bar, and performances by Nellie McKay and The Lives of Famous Men certainly helped. But it was also great to rub elbows with a who’s who of the vegan community, including Russell Simmons, Moby, Gene Baur (founder of Farm Sanctuary), Marisa Miller Wolfson (Vegucated, Vegan at Heart), Joshua Katcher (The Discerning Brute), Chloe Jo Davis (Girlie Girl Army), and Jane Velez-Mitchell (CNN).
Kudos to olsenHaus — what a night!
